Hello from Pune, India
Hello guys,
I love this forum. It feels like home here.
I'm Sridhar from India. I'm a young guy, my age is 24 :-). I'm a software programmer by profession. I had learnt plethora of computer technologies, all the geek stuff such as electronic chip programming. But never did I find learning any of those technologies as difficult as learning Piano. This is my personal opinion. I think learning Piano requires a lot of patience, mind-body co-ordination and concentration.
I'm a beginner at piano, I only know playing major chords & minor chords and few easy pieces. I can read music at a slow pace. I had started my journey of learning Piano an year ago. I had bought a 5 octave electronic keyboard manufactured by Casio and joined teaching classes near my place. My piano master was very pedantic and discouraging. He pointed out silly things and wasted time in argument every now and then. Upset with his insults, I quit the classes. Soon, my practice sessions died out due to lack of direction.
After few months, I luckily stumbled upon Andrew's youtube videos. It all went well until the 12th video lesson. I also had followed Andrew's advice of dedicating half an hour a day for piano practice for 3 months. I began to feel that my progress was very slow. Also, I had many unanswered questions related to piano in my mind. My piano practice eventually stopped again.
This week, I restarted my piano practice after seeing the energy in this forum, the members are so friendly and encouraging here. To be honest, this forum has revived all the child-like interest that I had when I bought a musical keyboard!
Thanks to Andrew, forum moderators & members for such a wonderful forum! Sorry for my poor English.

Re: Hello from Pune, India
Welcome to the forum! As far as I can tell, your English is good.
And you are right: Piano playing is very different compared to computer programming, which is my profession, too

Thanks frank for your greeting!
I'm having tough time learning Piano. Enjoying this challenge though.
BTW. How long have you been practicing Piano? How did you start off with piano and all?

Re: Hello from Pune, India
I'm playing piano for less than a year now (I've tried piano playing when I was young, too, but never reached a better level than simple melodies with one hand). For the basics, posture etc., the session at a piano teacher for half a year was very useful.
