Hours per day for piano practice
Hey everyone Ive join since July 2009 but haven't made much progress as i was only able to view 3 lessons, my time is so limited as i come home from school at 4 and then go running for an hour and then come back and study till 9 or 10 and somewhere in the middle i grab a bite or hav dinner.
so as u can see i hav a pretty busy schedule because of how late i come home and i reeeally want to learn the piano this time as since i was 12 ive been attempting on and off throught the years to learn but with failure sadly and this time i want to stick with it and learn the instrument! so i dnt know but i was hoping to get a few tips maybe on how i can fit in piano lessons Andrew said it would be better if someone practised for 15 min a day than 1 hour a week. Im not asking u to manage my time for me but i guess im wondering if there is hope that i could learn the instrument or is this going to be yet another failing attempt to play the piano? please reply soon as i am depressed about this issue

Re: Hours per day for piano practice
Dont be depressed, nothing is lost. You could actually take little break (few minutes) in your studies which is actually useful so you can concentrate better when you return to your studies... and you can use those few minutes to practice.
I also like to play around with the piano right after I wake up ( before I go to school) your mind might be quite fresh early in the morning.
You could also watch Andrew videos while you are eating // I know it is not the best habit but if time is pressuring you thats the way to go
What about weekends? Can you arrange some time during the weekend to practice? Best way is to practice every days even only for few minutes but if you really stick with a schedule you can make it work with less frequent pratice - just dont give up!!

Re: Hours per day for piano practice
i have a couple of suggestions...as a way to boost the fun involved, search on you tube for some song you would want to play... generally they will tell you all of the notes to hit if you have any trouble reading sheet music at this point..... when i first started one thing that really kept me goin was already being able to play some songs i liked.. that will help your coordination also... then work on learning new stuff more when u can sqeeze in some time.. personally i disagree with andrew on 15 mins a day instead of an hour every couple...it may work well for you, or may not.. for me some days i wanna play another instrument because piano is frustrating me.. i will go back a day or two later and suddenly be way better and more level headed! it should always be fun and relaxing to play! just stay persistent
