three staffs
Hi Andrew and all,
I have been learning piano for a little while now and improving bit by bit thanks to Andrew's piano lessons on YouTube which have been really helpful to me.
I have a question if someone can kidnly help me please. I bought a book called Pop/Rock Piano Hits For Dummies. Inside are the sheet music for lots of classic songs. However Im confused why there are 3 staffs to every section. I have been used to reading from two staffs (Treble at tope and bass at bottom). This has lyrics and the top staff with different notes to the bottom two staffs. Im confused which staffs to play and what it means. Can someone simplify it all for me please? Thank you in advance

Re: three staffs
The staff at the top is made for the voice (to be sung). The two at the bottom are what you will play on the piano.

Re: three staffs
I thought so Alistair and thanks for replying, but why has it got notes on it that are different from the other two please?
Re: three staffs
I'm not sure what you mean? Diffrent notes?
Is it something like this > http://g.sheetmusicplus.com/Look-Inside/large/3146262_02.jpg?
You would just need to play the piano sections. If sombody was singing along they would know what to do. The notes on the voise section work similar to how you play the piano, how long to hold the notes for ect.

Re: three staffs
Ahh now I understand. So the top staff is for the singer and what note to sing in, its not to be played on the piano. Ok I got it thanks Alistair I feel silly asking but I was a bit confused.
Thanks for helping me
