I would love to buy a sax, I have the feel that it's probably a great improvisation instrument. Since I havent done much research on the instrument, is this a melody instrument like a flute, or is it also a harmony, so you can play several notes to make chords like a piano?

Hey guys Very Happy

I want to start on the sax, and Iw as wondering if its alright to start on a tenor or a soprano. I love the soprano's bright sound much more than the tenor's rich one. But people said starting on the soprano is hard.
