How's it goin' everyone!
Hey everyone! I'm from the united states, 18, and I recently took interest in the piano. I bought my first keyboard a few weeks ago and thanks to Andrew I can at least play a few songs. I'm trying to find a teacher or someone to help me but it doesn't look good; I'm hoping that my college has a basic piano class or something for me to take next semester.
It's really neat what he's doing here too! He's taking his own time to help a bunch of people he doesn't know, you don't see much of that nowadays. I hope you guys don't mind me joining your community, I really want to learn how to play the piano!
: D Thank you!

Hi Crescent nice to hear from you. As much as I know most colleges had basic piano class...
I just finished one myself
I hope your motivation will increase greatly with us plus in a piano class...
what kind of keyboard you got? I got mine 2 weeks ago and even though it is not a piano there are a lot of neat things on it.
Check out the post in General Piano Discussion I collected some cool sites for helping the beginners like me.
Hope to see you soon

Let's see I believe it's a Yamaha 62-Key touch senistive keyboard. Originally I was going to get a an 88 key digital piano but luckily I talked myself into getting that for $400 less, cause you know I didn't know if I would like it not. XD
And thanks you two for your kind welcomes! ^^ And I'll be sure to check out those links too!

I regretted VERY fast that I got a keboard, and 62 key is To little keys to play with if you want to play exactly the peaces you want to play. So now, 3 months later, I bought a digital piano, end the experience is 100000x better, I promise you
But, if its not your thing, it was good you dindt have to waste your money =)
I bougt my keyboard for 300$ and sold it for 150$ - lost 150$ on it in 3 months, so its no big deal really... If you decide fast to go with a piano
Re: How's it goin' everyone!
That's the dilema, you dont know if you're gonna like it or not...
I got my keyboard for free, and should not complain.
But when I get my M-Audio ProKeys 88, when I can save some money for it,
I wont sell my keyboard ( it's to old, from 1989 so it wont sell anyway ),
because it's fancy to have 2.... You can never have too many I think.
Keep playing, Crescent

Re: How's it goin' everyone!
Haha sorry for bumping up this thread :p but since I haven't been here in a long time might as well tell my progress.
I recently bought a book for the piano and I've been reading through that and practicing. I can read notes, do scales (Major:WWHWWWH; Minor: WHWWHWW) XD I Think anyway, I can do the intros to a few songs I wanted to do (woot!) I pretty much know all the keys and I'm now working on my left hand. That means for awhile I'll be using my left hand as my dominant! This shall be fun/interesting! :p
