Lang Lang in Rome!
Okay, so you probably couldn't care less about this, but earlier this month (before finals and exams completely took over my life ) I went to my first ever piano concert!!
Now, I know I'm no expert (but you guys are, so correct me if I'm wrong), but the pianist I went to see was none other than Lang Lang, who came to Rome for five days of concerts at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, and, well, I thought he was pretty darn good! I had a marvelous time, I admit I enjoyed myself a lot more than I would've expected (one thing is listening to classical music when you're at home doing something else, or playing it yourself... but to actually stay seated for two hours just listening to a guy playing... I was a bit worried), because he wasn't just playing: he was expressing so much more through his body movements and his face! I finally understood the meaning of expressing feelings through music
So in case you're wondering what he played:
- Schubert, Sonata in A major D. 959
- Bartok, Sonata Sz 80
- Debussy, from the Préludes:
Bruyères
Feux d'Artifice
La Terrasse des Audiences du Clair de Lune
Les Collines d'Anacapri
La Fille aux Cheveux de Lin
La Cathédrale Engloutie
Minstrels
- Chopin, Polonnaise in A flat major op 53 Eroica
And he topped it off with a Chinese folk song

Re: Lang Lang in Rome!
Great Story Nice of you to share it
I would love to go to a concert like that as well, and personally I like Lang Lang very much He has gotten lots of critique on Youtube about his movements ect, and also that he ruin some pieces! I have heard a couple of videos of him playing a piece, where I did feel he was ruining it, but overall I really enjoy his person and performancestyle!^^
To little Chopin on that list, thats all hehe
But I havent heard most of these pieces, so I really cant say anything other than that Chopins Polonnaise in A flat major is f'n Awesome
Nice story, and hope there will be many more

Re: Lang Lang in Rome!
Yeah, that piece was one of the ones I liked most, too.
Actually, the reason there is so little Chopin is because one of the other concerts he was having (two days after the one I attended, I think) was entirely dedicated to Chopin. My friend decided to buy tickets for this one so that I could hear and get to know different composers, but we were very torn with that other Chopin concert
