Who has a cat?
I was wondering how many people here own a pet cat, I know a lot of people who plays the piano and own cats.
It almost seems like there is a correlation or connection between people who excel at the piano (or in music in general) and owning a cat? The reason I say this because I own a cat and although I don't know how to play the piano I've always liked it and wanted to learn. My friend plays the piano very well and she owns a cat. My half-brother who is 14 plays the piano and he has a cat. Lastly, Andrew himself owns a cat. I guess it might be just coincidence that people I know in my life have cats and pianos. lolz.

Re: Who has a cat?
i'm gonna guess most people who play piano own cats because of personality type. both cat owners and piano players tend to be more relaxed and "peaceful" (not quite the word i was looking for, but it works!). For example, someone who is a professional skydiver more than likely wouldn't play piano, or own a cat! So i think they just attract similar people!

Re: Who has a cat?
Yeah i agree with you there, being a relaxed person, a more gentile person, who likes comfort, classical music and looking all whooshy at a piano screams "I AM A CAT AND THEREFOR LIKE CATS".
People who like sports and being all energised and hyperactive generally get dogs because they can take them for walks and rough them up a bit and play loads like throw a frisbee etc. Go get a frisbee and throw it for your cat and see if it cares at all

Re: Who has a cat?
Hehe, was a little funny to read your comment cause I am al those things, but still play the piano I LOVE sports, I play sports and got a HUGE temperament when Im on the soccerfield, or involved in any other competing activities! Swearing and shouting and giving it all I got!! I have to work out almost everyday! But I love my cat, and I love to relax at the piano with the most tender pieces by Chopin or others
Re: Who has a cat?
Thomandy you're pretty good at piano now yeah, Andrew Certainly thinks you've progressed really well! (Was listening just earlier to him talking highly of you in that radio interview he done) Do you think you could manage Nocturne in F Minor Opus 55 No1 by Chopin? Its most definitely a piece I am aching to be able to play though I feel I won't be able to manage it for a very long time. I was just wondering if you could. Just take a quick look at some sheet music or a video, and see what you think. Unless you're too busy of course with your sports and piano learning and patting your cat~~ <3
I feel it would be a great beginner piece into the world of Chopin, and although it seems to be thought of as Grade 8 and in F Minor, it just seems to have a recurring melody and somewhat of a simple brilliance, but thats just the technical side to it, the expressive side is up to you whether you want to try and tackle it or not. I just wanted you to know about this Opus if you don't already.
I'll embed a great version for you!

Re: Who has a cat?
Yeah, I was very proud last year when I heard my name
I know of the piece, its one of my top, 5-7 Chopin Nocturnes!
I might learn it one day! I think I should be able to learn it without big issues, at least technically.. Musically Id have to do more job of course!
This is a very tender piece, and even the crescendos are so tender in itself! Im planning on a new Chopin nocturne soon, but its not going to be this! But maybe one day
I already play Op 9 No 2, which I did in January this year! I got a 82mark from Andrew then! I think I would manage a 90+ now if I would record it again 9 2 is a grade 7 I think, and I feel its an easy piece, so if this is a grade 8 I think I would run into some tricky things, bu manage it
Listened to the piece now, so I know it took me 5min and 37 sec to write this hehe

Re: Who has a cat?
Haha thanks Thomandy I didn't realise Andrew can score what you play, how amazing is Andrew! I really need that camera to record my progress and post stuff in the performances section. Can't wait to get started on my piano when it arrives~! I've even gone as desperate as to practice fingering on a keyboard mat i got free with a book!
You're a real inspiration for me Thom! Being dedicated so and progressing so far in one year. I know I'll be just as dedicated as you so thanks for letting me know what is possible and what to expect!
(Mr Thom we get so sidelined in all these random topics haha )
So... cats rule teh worldddddddddddddddddd~ My plan is to compose a piece when I am older about the wonders of growing up with cats and what it felt like to lose them.
