Failte Romhat (Greetings) from Ireland
I'm Irish, but rather than telling just you all about myself, I'm going to set the scene and do my party political broadcast on behalf of Ireland....
Why it's good:
Very, very green
An endless assortment of interesting people and lots of oddballs
Tayto crisps, Ballymaloe country relish, a good cup of tea, rashers (proper bacon that is), colcannon (one of our national dishes), Anything by Jacobs (Kimberely, Mikado and Coconut cream biscuits),halloween (We invented it!), Tom Crean (Look him up he's a legend), Harry Clarke (Another legend, although maybe just to me), All the writers and nobel prize winners (We have a few), The Hounds of the Morrigan by Pat O'Shea (my fav childhood read), We also invented boycotting (you can look that one up to).. We're a really small country, where you can't swing a cat without meeting someone you're connected to but we still feel like we have a place in the big bad world. We love music, dancing and generally having fun..and we are the most chatty nation in Europe (official mobile phone stats)
O.k. the bad stuff
The weather:- wild, unpredictable..but we're so optimistic we bring our sunglasses everywhere just in case
The noveau riche Irish:- Those of us who think we're big shots because we've come into a bit of cash..we're but a few generations from one of the worst famines in Europe
Our government..I'll say no more..The recession..it should be banned from conversation..
And me..playing piano for a year (see my story;)), love Chopin, Jeff Buckley, Rufus Wainwright, Radiohead and countless others, nearly forgot Clint, Clint Mansell he's the business...I teach science for my sins, I'm not telling my age, because being a woman I don't feel especially obliged too. I love photography and reading anything by Iain Banks...I have other very eclectic hobbies but I don't wish to bore everyone...
Anyways that's the nutshell version..
