Fur Elise fingering

Hi everyone,

I am learning Fur Elise (the full version) and have 2 sources. Sheet music i downloaded from the internet, and an old Grade 6 exam repetoire.

In the sheet music from the internet, in Bars 61-65 the left hand plays the A note and shows fingering 321321 in the first bar. I assume that this fingering continues on the other bars. My exam repetoire does not show any explicit fingering.

Also in bar 73-76, the left hand plays repeated B-flats with the fingering 3232 shown for the first 4 occurances. Likewise my exam repetoire does not show any fingering for the left hand in these bars.

So my question is a) is it assumed that I continue this fingering pattern throughout the bars. b) why is this fingering the way it is? and why is the B flat alternating between fingers 3 and 2, while the A is alternating between 3,2 and 1? The only difference is A is a white key and wider for the thumb, whereas Bflat is a black key.

Why they are the way it is >> I think because this is the best fingering .. (But I dont know why exactly actually) ..
But it's not a rule to follow ..
You can use your own fingers ..

You can also look at "Thomas" performance of Fur Elise .. He uses the same fingering as your sheets ..

And about the quote, I actually use 1,2,3 on the black key aswell, but Andrew told me once, that If you Can avoid using the thumb on a black key that is the best way since the chances of slipping is more likely to accour
