Uhhh... zero! Razz But I don't see it as being a problem, I'm only gonna start the 1st Movement and I think I'm very musical so, we'll see what happens. I'm just the kinda guy who likes to learn something worthwhile which I like right from the outset and wouldn't mind if I can only play 3 bars, it would mean more to me than completing a whole simpler song which I don't like! I suppose so xP I recommend you learn simpler songs, though. Maybe video game songs. Most of which are good and easy, like "Together We Ride" from Fire Emblem.

Still If he got talent the beginning of Fur Elise shouldnt be a problem Smile .. and only way of finding out is trying Smile - My cousin started Fur Elise Main theme, with my help, and he managed to learn and play it in a couple of weeks, and it was his first piece Smile .. But your idea is good! Lots of great video game pieces that are easy and nice! Smile

I do admit I love my computer games and their melodies! I never naturally think of their simpler pieces though for some reason and I gathered the sheet music would be hard to find but if you're telling me its not I'll go lookies now! Razz

Yeah, very true. I learned Fur Elise from Andrew's video as my first piece. There's no reason to try. The Zelda songs are wonderful ^_^

Sonatina by Clementi! ^_^

I absolutely adore a part in this tune because it sounds like Vivi's Theme from Final Fantasy 9 at one part! Razz

I just managed to play the first 4 bars in good rhythm and I'm so excited!

Is that Op. 36 No. 1? That's what I'm currently learning now too!

It's a wonderful piece. I'm almost done with the second movement, but a little nervous about the third. No

I think mine is the basic melody for the first 2 minutes of the piece, movement 1 probably. But it has some two handed parts and some complicated (for me) successive C scales up the piano and down, on both hands! Razz

I can manage the first line but after that they add some flats and they are the first ones I've come across so they feel unnatural (Haha!) because I've only had to use white keys til now. I'm keeping with it though! study

I have started with the mozart turkish march. It is the first really tough piece to be attempted by me, so I guess I am going to take lot time just to get it at 50% tempo.

I am very beginner and amateur. What piece to learn after Chopin nocturne op55no1 ? Ballades are too strong, Nocturnes hmmm - i wish make a pause with nocturnes. Maybe Fantasie Impromptu of Etude op25no7 - this etude is strong to play ?

New Beginnings, from The Sims (Build Theme 1). It's way over my skill level, so I'm just working up to the first key change for now, and as my skill and technique improves I can do more with it.

Other than that I'm going through some of my old music books and playing random pieces. Already learned Dire, Dire Docks from Super Mario 64, so one thing accomplished Smile

I'm currently learning Rikku's Theme from FFX, I'm fairly sure I'll be finished with this in a week or two... Elfenlied - lilium is still at standby Neutral

I've also planned to learn The Sims - Build Theme 3 ( Since we met ), I think that one is awesome, even tho all of the piano pieces in the first game was just epic. I loved them. And the good thing is that The Sims was so populare that alot people will recognice those pieces, both girls and boys.

I dont know why I dont pick a classical piece instead, but it just doesnt seem natural for me.

I hit a major wall after attempting a couple of songs that I just couldn't play. I was a little discouraged, but realized that I'm still fairly new to this whole piano thing and needed to develop. So I went back to this list that was posted a while back on this forum to find some music:

http://www.pianoworld.com/Uploads/files/Graded_Pieces_Sorted_By_Difficulty.PDF

This is what I'm working on right now:

Thomandy's Prelude in F minor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYFK1pzyRxA

The competition ends next week, so I gotta get cracking. I hope to add a little something special to this, but the clock is running. I just need to get the fingering worked out. Xianning already has an amazing video posted, so I'm not really participating to win, but mainly to join in for the fun and to show how much the piano is part of my (hobby) life now. I hope to get my video posted this weekend. I hope everyone enjoys it!

Andrew's Dolphin song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkrbJwpTUtw

Crickey, another competition! I had just given up on this one, but now that it's a competition, I have to get back to it. Like I said above, I had already given up on playing this one for a while, but I might as well keep trying. I curse at Andrew whenever I practice this. Razz It's terribly difficult for a beginner because of the timing. Apparently Andrew did this on purpose. *shakes fist at Andrew* Razz

Bach Menuet in G Minor BWV Anh. 115: http://www.mutopiaproject.org/ftp/BachJS/BWVAnh115/anna-magdalena-05/anna-magdalena-05-let.pdf

This one is supposed to be played with the 114 menuet which I have already learned, so I'm excited about it. I'm having a harder time with this one than the first one. I don't know if it's because I was more familiar with the melody of the 114, or because this one is just more difficult, or because I've stuffed my brain with too much piano stuff already. I've almost memorized it, but this still requires a lot more practice.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpDwAviv56g

Burgmueller "Progress" op. 100, no. 6:

This was one of the songs I hit the wall on. It's easy enough to memorize, but the fast two handed scale runs are killing me. So, I realize it's a little out of my league for now, but I keep practicing the runs daily to hopefully get them in better sync and up to tempo. *shakes fist at Burgmueller*

Scarlatti Aria in D minor K.32 L.423: (sorry, don't have a link but it's out there)

I just started this one tonight. I know I have a lot on my plate already, but I wanted to start memorizing it. Great song! (and well within my ability (I think:scratch: )

These songs are on the list next:

Bach Praeludum In C minor (BVW 999)
Bach March in E flat major (BWV Anh. 127)
Bach Praeludium nr 1 (BWV 939)
Bach March (BWV Anh. 122)

I better get cracking! Very Happy

I recently learned the Hungarian rhapsody 2 even if it sounds really bad but I am proud about my progress anyway, I tried learning a few Liszt etudes like Mazeppa even though they are extremely hard.
I'd rather learn something hard that I like than something easy I don't.

Update about my Mazeppa progress:

Learned about 1 minute in, tempo and everything seems to be fine. Working on the dynamics of the horse leaps.

What grade is this piece? It must be one of the top 10 most difficult pieces ever written.

Hehe, opus 28 n°4 is a prelude, not a nocture Wink my girlfriend just started learning it!

Currently, I'm learning Beethoven's sonata opus 31 n°3 (finished the 1st movement, now working on 2nd and 4th ones), Messiaen's prelude "les sons impalpables du rêve"; last week I also worked a bit on my Rachmaninoff prelude n°5 op.23 and n°2 op.3.
I work daily on Chopin's etudes n°1, 7 and 11 opus 10, n°6 op. 25. (Using them as technical exercises)

I'd really like to learn Rachmaninoff's 1st concerto soon, it's really good and not too hard... I've only played one concerto so far (Liszt's second) and it wasn't that good as I only had 3 weeks to learn it... frustrating...

The next peice i want to learn are the three Gnossiennes from Erik Satie, the third being by favourite. His pieces are so mysterious and soothing. Also his pieces allow you to very easily make into your own Smile If you havnt hered a Satie piece i'd suggest you check him out.
