which key signature? Empty which key signature?

the key signature for c# minor is the same as e major right? so moonlight is piano sonata no.14 in c# minor. why not e major? does it just sound better?

I recommend that you check out this music theory lesson video:



Watch it and you will easily find out if the piece is in a major or minor key.
