Fur Elise - Grade?!! And? Empty Fur Elise - Grade?!! And?

Post by Thomandy Fri May 09, 2008 10:45 am

Well, I thought about it some, cose people say that this is such a simple piece, and that it isnt really challanging.
But I did some research, and found out the grade for this piece.

The standard "easyer" part are graded 2 - But the solos turns this pice into a hard grade 4 piece or easy grade 5 piece.
Of course leraning the notes isnt hard, but to play it good, well thats another thing...

I was cind of releafed when I found that information, couse I thought I had struggeld maby to much, with somthing that
shouldnt be that hard... But, then at least I know my struggle was justified, somhow =)

And! One more thing? Why is there so much negativity about this piece all around? I knoe there is a small % compared to the amount that like it, but "serios" pianist on youtube to mention an example say they will NEVER play it ++
I know its a bit overplayed parhaps, but It is a REALLY nice piece.. Cant really understand that so many are negative Razz

I think mostly the easier part is overplayed because people only learn that part.
Many of them plays it mechanically, no emotions just key after key.... thats killing the piece. Rolling Eyes

In my opinion noone should say they wont play a certain piece no matter for what reason. Every piece deserve the same respect no matter grade 1 or grade 5.

Yeah, its true..
Well, the reason they dont play it thay say isnt couse of the grade!! Its because its "cliche" Razz

Thomandy, how far have you gone with the piece?

I think anyone who'd say they'll NEVER play a Beethoven piece -no matter how advanced they are on the piano -is being unreasonable.

Don't get frustrated -you'll most likely get it right when you least expect it, so keep trying.

Post by Admin Andrew Fri May 09, 2008 10:04 pm

Here in Canada in the RCM fur Elise is considered a grade 7 songs Smile so that's saying something if you can pull it off nicely. Grade 11 is the highest grade here. grade 1-2 are beginner grades, 3-8 are intermediate levels, and 9,10, ARCT (grade 11) are the advanced levels. It would take most piano students about 5-6 years of studies before they'd have gotten through the levels to get to fur elise. So good job! I wouldn't let yourself get to frustrated with it! Smile Just take it easy on yourself you're already doing amazing as it is Very Happy

Anyway! I wanna also let you guys know i'll be gone for a few days here i'm going on a trip to Vancouver for the weekend. ^_^ If you've noticed I haven't been on as much there were 2 reasons. One I just wrote my history exam this morning...IT"S FINALLY DONE! (phew) and the other is, my internet keeps randomly cutting out every hour or so. I've been pretty annoyed with it! I called my ISP half a dozen times and tried to get it sorted out, but it's not working, they say it's my router and i know it's not, but they said the modem is checking out just fine. Siigh, hopefully things get better! ^_^ Anyway! I'm excited for my trip, I'm leaving in about 20 minutes here! Take care guys! see you on tuesday!

Well, I can play it "PERFECT" without the camcorder on Sad I can play it fast, slow, mecanical an with alot of emotion(i think) but that is why I would like to get a "perfect" one up here, so Andrew and you other guys can say whats to say about it..

I have been practicing for 2 months soon, on and of... And 3 weeks ago, the speed on the 32s got good, sometimes actually to fast. I can pull it of 4 ot of 5 times now.. And the other two solos is actually easyer, but they are also 16s.. Yeah, a well... I dont want to upload my "close to perfect" couse I want it perfect... And when I say perfect, I mean as good as I can get it Razz I know there will be some time before I can play it PERfetct, if you know what I mean. Razz

Yeah it was ranged from 1-9 on a sheetsite, and levels as a 5, so i guess that fits well =) Cool!! Very Happy and that is considered a grade 7, i didnt know... But I guess that also consider the emotional quality as well, as the tecnical quality... I hope to get it up tomorrow, then you can rip it apart as you wish and give me critic Smile Hm... Maby Ill try to record now Smile I am a bit exited Smile

Just keep recording till you get it perfect. I havent recorded any video, but I know by myself, because I've recorded the audio,
that I really want it perfect, just 1 key wrong and I need a retake, and ofcourse,
can take a while ( but look at it as practise, atleast you can play the song better when you're done ).

But this could be a problem with longer pieces, Canon Rock is about 5 minutes long, and I'm doomed to miss a key... ^_^

Well, its great practice for sure Smile But NOW I finaly did a recording that pleases me =) I dont got any wrong keys, maby some tempoerrors here and there, and a couple of hard hits on pp's but now that I have practiced on and off for two months, and a little extra these two last days, I am finally satiesfied with the recording. And also Im satiesfied with the pp's and f's, couse I havnt playd on a piano for more than 3 weeks, and I struggle a lot when I need to play pp's... Smile Will upload within the hour Very Happy
To bad Andrew is gone for the weekend, but.. I guess he will give me some advice when he is back.

*Proud that I have completed a grade 7piece after only 4 months, and 3 weeks on the piano* =)

Ah well, back to reality Razz hehe

I love this song so much, I really do. But it is killing me! I quit lessons before I got my grade one, so this really isnt the song for me, but I love it too much and generally spend my day trying to learn to play it! With help from Andrews video of corse!

Hi there =D Well, I think you should try. Put a lot of time into it and you will get it. I got two versions of it in my performance topic if you want to check it out. I have been playing for soon 5 months, and got no teacher. And I do a okay version I think. You can decide. =) So, therefor I say; Give it a go! Very Happy

Did that kid play while he was angry? Not that he played bad, but it sounded like he was pissed off...
He'll probably stay fit even while sitting infront of a piano, because he's moving with the waves...

Not that I'd ever say that to the kid, but the way he played was pretty crappy, i'd say 4 /10 there were so many things wrong, I can't stand listening to it, even for his age that's no good XD I've seen kids that were 6 years old get up and play much harder pieces much nicer Smile

I'm not trying to sound like a prick, but he's really botching that piece...if i was him i'd NEVER have posted that on the internet unless he was making faces and joking around while he played

Youtube is not about who deserves it Andrew. The most sicko videos are the most popular.... and of course music videos which not suppose to be in there anyway. But thats the world we live in... value has no value in these days...

Good thing there are few people who doesnt follow this philosophy.
