How can I learn to use chords

Post by kentaku_sama on Tue Sep 08, 2009 4:56 am

Most of the chords I know, I don't know how to use in a progression. Major/minor are easy but what about
augmented, diminished, minor 7th, major-minor 7th, 6th, flat fives, ect... Is there any way I can learn to use these? How?

Even I have a very similar question. After a lot of research, I found there are some popular chord progressions notated by the roman numeral system which gave me some very vague understanding about the topic. Anyways, I guess the only way to get a proper grasp of these things is to get hands dirty and start composing some actual music. Maybe start with some simple block chords and work one's way up with broken/arpeggiated chord etc.
