Hello everybody!!!

I'm a teacher from Germany and my summer vacation has just begun. I have no plans on going on any trips this summer so I decided I need a project to keep me occupied over the next 6 weeks. Now I've aaaaaalways wanted to learn to play the piano and thought it might be the perfect time to get started on it!! (Of course I don't believe 6 weeks will be enough to learn how to play - in fact I can't imagine it's enough to even be able to play a scale with both hands working at the same time! Laughing But it's enough time to get started! =)

While waiting for my e-piano to be delivered (I ordered it a week ago - I know e-pianos kinda suck but I can't afford a "real" piano and besides I live in an appartment with a whole bunch of old, permanently fussing neighbors) I have been checking out music books and youtube for some good information on how to learn. I stumbled upon Andrews totally entertaining videos and next to giggling throughout the whole film I have actually been able to learn so many new and interessting things! (Thanks Andrew for posting those videos!! They're fantastic!! My husband is actually getting jelouse cause I've been spending so much time watching your videos and laughing and doting on you! Razz ) Now I'm getting all antsy and eager to finally start playing. Hopefully my piano will be delivered soon!!! Rolling Eyes

I played the saxophone for over 12 years until I moved out from my parents house and into an appartment. Now of course it's waaaaaay to loud to be playing the saxophone all the time. But I am hoping my knowledge about that instrument and reading music will at least be a small help for learning the piano! I can't afford music lessons so I am planning on doing this by myself and I am planning on achieving that goal!!! Laughing So wish me luck!

Hello there ^^
(well I hope you`re not living in bavaria `cause then there would be a chance that we meet each other xDDDDD. or to precise it: living in munich and teaching in a "gymnasium" ^^.)
actually six weeks are plenty of time ^^. If you have the will (and I think you have it) then you can achieve everything ^^. Even though you might say that, I am still young and naive, I know that for sure ^^.

Well I just started playing recently. I think it is around six weeks ^^.
Still a newbie , even though I am not a total newbie if it is about music (also playing guitar) ^^.
And yeah I am happy about the coming vacation, finally some time to learn something new in music theory plus finish the chopin piece I am trying to learn. ^^
(last page of it is kinda hard at least for such a newcomer as I )
Very Happy

Greetings Andria, deciding to learn the piano dedicatedly for 6 weeks is already a key to success.
I know the feeling how you got hooked on Andrew's videos, I did the same thing and surprise my husband was kind of jealous too Smile but he saw how motivated I was to learn the piano and in a relative short time I even surprised myself with the results. So just stay motivated, practice and the rest will happen, like a magic Smile
I would not be very ashamed with your e-piano either, in your circumstances it is a great way to start and then when you move to a house or a little castle in Germany Very Happy then you can have your real piano

Good luck, I am glad you found this community

Yes it is great when the family is very supportive. My mother-in-law was always thrilled to hear me practice?!? I told her it is really not pleasant to listen to that in my level but she insisted that she loves it Very Happy
I am just getting back to practice now, so my fingers are a little rusty these days Very Happy
Well glad that you are here Very Happy have a great weekend
