1 Year playing

Post by cggc1389 on Wed Jul 22, 2009 10:34 am

So today I found out that I've been playing piano for 1 year, no more no less. But I don't know if I learned pieces "hard" enough for this period of time. So far the best I play is 'River Flows in You' by Yiruma, 'Clocks' and 'The Scientist' both by Coldplay and I'm in halfway from learning 'Moonlight Sonata' by Beethoven, (Between other little plieces I learned in class). Neutral
What do you say? Which songs were you playing in 1 year?

Fur Elise, a bit of Moonlight Sonata-Beethoven, Super Mario theme, Clocks-Coldplay, The Scientist-Coldplay, Trouble-Coldplay, Turkish March-Mozart, a few other video game themes, Apologize-One Republic, A bit of "The Entertainer", a bit of Sweet Home Alabama-Lynard Skynard, Minuet, and the intro of Sweet Child O' Mine-Guns n' Roses.

I want to learn, Canon in D, Zzyzx Rd-Stone Sour, I'll be waiting-Lenny Kravitz, Claire De Lune, Arabesque, and a few Chopin compositions.

Looks good Smile

Well, I played Fur Elise Complete after some months + Turkish March and Maple Leaf Rag! I also learned moonlight sonata after that, but that isnt as hard as them others though. I also played Noc Op9 No2 by Chopin and Bachs Invention No8 - But still Maple Leaf Rag is probably the hardest one for me that I have learned so far! Smile

I actually did a 1year progress video Smile Its not a year on piano though, but 9months on piano. I didnt really develop before I got my piano Smile

Thanks Smile

Yeah, I think you will see that you can progress better with a real device Smile Hope you can do it to:)
Like Andrew once said to me. We all got limits, but when you hit a limit, just break through it with extra practice Smile

Awsome, dude. It gets a bit complicated to me in Moonlight Sonata. Almost every song I put I only play the right hand. I don't seem to be able to play both, no matter how much I practice D= Especially Turkish March.

Wow, Thomas, very impressive! Shocked Cool

It's neat that you recorded the various pieces you learned over your first year and could put them together and see the progress. Very cool! I would try it but the electronics involved are more daunting than the piano! Razz

And to everyone else that posted their progress after 1 year, thanks for setting the bar so high. Evil or Very Mad Razz I can see that I have a lot of work to do, but can also see that it is possible to play cool stuff with time, patience, and a little bit of practice. (not necessarily in that order)

I have only been playing for little over 1 month, and fortunately I can see now that the piano is not something I'm going to give up on any time soon. Thanks all for giving me a goal to reach for. It helps a lot! Like a Star @ heaven

Re: 1 Year playing

Haven't played a piano yet, just loaded my head with theory, listened to loads of music, read books and books and watched all Andrew's Vids. So I haven't learned any pieces - however, I have wrote a composition merely because I kept hearing it in my head and it was damn difficult to get it translated onto paper but I managed an outline, which I am aching so badly to put together onto a piano and develop into what I'm aiming for. I never imagined that the first piece I'd play would be something I created, but hey, lets hope I can get it working - or else I'll just practice it while I practice Beethoven. I even have practicing schedules for an entire year. Heres hoping I can match Thomas' pace. Razz
