I'm going to attempt to learn: Comptine d'un autre été L'après midi
I heard this song last night on a video, did some research on it and found a video of just the music.
Wonderfull piece.

Check out the performancetopic.
"The Royal Nobody" plays it there. Here, Ill give you the vid of him!
It isnt so confusing as you might think?!
I learned it by hart in 1 hour! Its just repeted patterns, but really beautyfull for sure

Yeah! =) Then you should just practice! Dont know the grade for this. The last part of every repetition is a little tricky, but easy if you just go at it slow! Then it sticks within a day or four hehe The lefthandpatterns is also a little bad for my hand!
Got to make a way to work around that!
But I guess this is a great piece for you to start a performancetopic here? That would be nice!

Re: I'm going to attempt to learn: Comptine d'un autre été L'après midi
I just tried out this piece for fun, just the few first bars, and I'll have to say it's quite hard merging the left and right hand right. First of you got this impossibleforsmallhands lefty, then when you try to merge the right in it messes up the left.
But it's a great piece I probably wanna try learn someday

Re: I'm going to attempt to learn: Comptine d'un autre été L'après midi
Hey guys! First post! w00t!
I've been playing piano for almost a year. This was the first song I learned. (Well, truth be told, I learned it simultaneously with Carly Commando's "Everyday")
If you're having trouble getting the story flowing, I think this might help. Yann Tiersen (imo, a legend) has such an appreciation for accents and rhythm in his music, and the slightest error in timing can easily throw off a song.
In drawing we learn that to conquer proportions, we need to understand "negative space". The same goes for this song. Listen to the timing BETWEEN the notes and I can guarantee you your playing will improve. Certain notes are played with moderate accents that are also crucial.
The "bass", for example, goes Strong, weak, Medium, weak. This is ESSENTIAL. If you have trouble with the melody, play along with the song on your computer or mp3 player or what have you as you play the song. It will help your timing. Metronomes obviously also work well.
If you guys are interested, I did an animation about this song for one of my class projects. Please note I have never so much as looked at an animation program before so if it seems amateur, it is
http://sinkinghigher.deviantart.com/art/Comptine-Flash-100170577
If anything, this just backs up andrews point that having a story in your head takes a song to a new level.
Happy playing!
