MIDI files for scales

Hi, I've been looking for MIDI files for scales and I couldn't find any. So I decided to make them myself and here are midis for the C major scale, right and left hand respectively.

C major - right hand.
C major-left hand

You can use them with Synthesia or some other MIDI-editor/player. Will add more later.

Update. Added G major and D major.

What do you use them for?

Are you asking how I use MIDI to practice scales or what's the use of doing the scales? I can't answer the second question, but I play the MIDI files in Synthesia with my piano connected to the computer and just start playing.

Synthesia helps me to see how long I have to hold each note. That way I'm more likely to play the scales evenly; every note in the same duration. I like this better than using a metronome, which distracts me.

That's exactly what I was wondering, now I see.

Are you planning on doing them all? And do you mind if I add them to my list?

Can you tell me if the "free download" of Synthesia is really free, or one of those demos that expire after a certain time (those really bug me) ?

There is no time limit on the free version, I've had it for months. It would be great if you added the midis to your site. Yes I will do more, finish the major scales and probably do minor next, then the abnormal ones.

Funny you should mention the metronome. I find it not only distracting, but also very annoying, so I rarely ever use it. I thought I was the only oddball.

It required me to get quicktime to open these files, but after I installed it and restarted my browser I still couldn't open it.

I found out what was going on.

Very thoughtful of you, Ted. I'm a beginner, but I know my scales. ^^ I'm saving these for a friend that's started watching Andrew's videos this week and is figuring out how to understand his ''fast'' english (so she says) and practice afterward. (:

Great Kelly, you shouldn't need Quicktime for MIDI. They can be opened in MIDI to sheet music programs like MuseScore and Anvil Studio and of course Windows Media player. I find it best to use them with Synthesia.

New scales added October 11th, E, B and F#. See first post. Will add the flatted scales (Db, Ab, Eb, Bb and F) today or tomorrow.
