Guys, I can play aeris theme from final fantasy 7 (psx games), but the only problem is that, I cannot play the fastest part, the groups of 16 notes probably in the climax of the music. I'll try the common way which is practising for it in a very slow manner but the left hand plays in triplets. I can't play it both without losing the beat of the music especially the left hand part.

What should I do in order to play it precisely?

Can you show the sheet music? I'd have a trick or two but they would be more precise if I know exactly how the section looks like.

All right.

First of all, work on the left hand alone. Your fingering should be very comfortable (as this kind of figures come very often in the left hand in the whole piano repertoire.) I suggest 5 3 2 1 3 2 1 3 1 2 1 3 (page 3, last measure, left hand; idem for page 4, first measure, left hand).

Once you've practiced that, try to put light accents every 3 notes:

5 3 2 1 3 2 1 3 1 2 1 3.

Then practice your right hand; the best fingering here seems obvious (1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4...). Do the same exercice as with the left hand, every four notes of course.

When playing the parts together, the trick is actually to think in term of beats, that is, in 4th notes. You have to remember what fingers come together (and maybe put an accent on them while PRACTICING (not while performing!)). It should help cleaning up the section A LOT. Of course, you have to do it at slow tempo, but not necessarily too slow, as the intention here is to preserve the general movement of both melodic lines, and not to make a clear counterpoint.

I hope this explanation was helpful!

Andrew has a neat trick of using the phrase "not very difficult" to keep the 4 against 3 beats steady -- both hands play at the same time on "not: then which ever hand has the 16th notes over 4 beats -- in this case the right hand plays the first syllable of very (ver) and then you alternate hands (left does the "y" part of very) then right does diff, left does "i" and right does "cult". The same kind of trick works for 3 against 2 only the phrase is ("not difficult) It really helped me with the 3 against two passages in Reverie.
