Fingering on F major scale

I'm practicing all my major scales right now with left and right hand. I was wondering what's the best fingering pattern for the left hand, and for the right hand? I don't think I'm doing it correctly, because I'm not ending on the octaves with my 1 and 5 fingers.

HI wong18c
RH = 1/2/3/4..then tuck 1/2/3/4
LH = 5/4/3/2/1..then cross 3/2/1
and same going down scale ..based on single octave, hope this helps
also slightly different with 2 octaves but not much
RH =1/2/3/4/1/2/3/1/2/3/4/1/2/3/4 ....then same back
` LH = 5/4/3/2/1/3/2/1/4/3/2/1/3/2/1.....then same back

There are some variation based on what key you play in though!
Like the black key scales are very different!

There is a scale-topic that contains a scale.pdf filething, look for it, and there will be good fingering there.

Good thing I saw this thread. I was just about to ask the same question. The 1-2-3-tuck-1-2-3-4-5 method was a bit difficult in a Fmaj scale when trying to get my right thumb to that Bb note. 1-2-3-4 tuck 1-2-3-4 makes a lot more sense.

PS....Andrew, if you're reading this.... I work for Air Canada down here in Tampa, so I might be one of the rare Americans who knows where Prince George actually is!! Haven't been there, though. Closest I came was was skiing at Silver Star and Big White about 10 years ago. Same province, at least.

A good little trick and tip to do when practicing your scales is to play them hands together with the left hand ascending and the right hand descending, eventually meeting in the middle. It helps you brain learn new melodic patterns which it might not be used to. After a while, you'll get used to it.
